Dacula is a city in Gwinnett County in northern Georgia. The town was formerly named Hoke but when a post office branch was denied for the village because there was another Hoke, Georgia the name was changed to Dacula. The name is derived from the letters in Decatur and Atlanta, two nearby thriving cities. City parks provide recreational opportunities for the approximately 6,000 residents of Dacula. The 76-acre Dacula Park, Rabbit Hill Park, and Harbins Park all offer a different combination of amenities, which may include swimming pools, ball fields, playgrounds, picnic areas, ponds, and hiking trails. Other area activities and attractions, including nearby Atlanta’s shopping, dining, and entertainment, are easily reached via U.S. Route 29, which transverses the town.
