Founded in 1818 as a trading center, hall County became a frontier boom town as settlers moved in to establish homesteads in the rolling hills. today the county is home to the Atlanta Falcons professinal football team, and has the region's largest major hospital with more than 300 physicians.
Residents enjoy the 38,000 acre Lake Lanier including millions of visitors who flock to the 540 miles of shoreline each year to enjoy recreational water sports and sports fishing.
 Other outdoor recreational activities include championship goft courses, Olympic rowing and canoe/kayak facilities. Lanier Raceway, Road Atlanta and many public parks and recreation facilities. The county offers quality public and private education options with its two public school systems and several top-rated private schools including Riverside Military Academy and Lakeview Academy. Hall county is also home to Gainesville State college and Brenau University, a private college.
Since 1990 the county's population has grown by 40 percent. Today the county is home to 175,000 residents.

Lake Lanier
Lake Sidney Lanier is the recreation center for all of Northeast Georgia and the most popular water recreation area in the United States. Covering 38,000 acres, it has 607 miles of shoreline and receives over 16 million visitors per year, who take advantage of the swimming, skiing, sailing, rafting, camping, hiking, fishing and horseback riding.
